for the love of perfume: the great smell bent internship program!!!

 
   we love perfume.  we love talking about it, we love learning about it, and we love making it. we feel incredibly fortunate to be able to do it.  back when we were starting out, we couldn't get anyone to teach us the business (maybe that's why we do things a little differently).  but that's not how it should be.  

    if you or a friend is a perfume lover looking to get a better understanding of how to appreciate, talk about and make perfume, we've got an internship for you!  we'll take you through the compontents, structure and creation of scent.  you'll get hands on experience of how a small perfume company operates and gets its perfume out in the world.  plus, you'll see all the kooky shenanigans that make smell bent such an odd ball!  open to those able to make regular visits to our studio in los angeles.

we recently had to clean out our stock room again (we still don’t want to be on hoarders) and have a few smellies that could use good homes.  below, you'll find a listing of our available scents.  as we run out, we'll update the list.  everything is first come, first serve. check the bottom of this post for full details.

the fine print ...

quantities of all scents are limited.  bottles may be marked “tester”, come unboxed, be in our older style bottle or have a wonky or unusual label.  all orders will come with samples of limited edition, prototype and/or discontinued scents.  

all orders - both domestic and international - will be shipped using usps priority mail.  shipping for US orders will start @ $6 for up to 4 unboxed sprays.  international shipping will be determined by the quantity of items in the order.  for most orders (up to 4 sprays), international shipping will be $14 for canada and $18 for all other countries.  

purchase requests will be taken in the order in which they are received.

it's official, we're in the running ...

hey kiddies,

some of you more perfume-savvy might already know that the fragrances foundation, awarders of the fifi's, the perfume equivilant of the oscars, recently created an indie category.  not wanting to be left out, smell bent threw a couple of our 2011 releases in the ring.  today, the full list of contenders was released, and we're so happy to be a part of it.  judging is to be held in january, so cross your fingers kiddies and wish us luck!

we had so much fun, we're doing it again!

thanks to everybody who came down to uniqueLA, the show was out-of-control.  so when we got the chance to join renegade's holiday show, we jumped.  we'll be selling saturday and sunday, december 10th and 11th from 10am-5pm in Los Angeles State Historic Park.  but while you might come for the smell bent, you'll stay for the 200+ other indie vendors peddling their wares.  best of all, admission to renegade is completely free!  so come down, support local small businesses and get something cool for everybody on your list!

scrooge the pooch - a smellie to help others!

dear friends,

    each year, here at smell bent, we like to take time to remember those who may have had a rougher year than we had.  though times have been tough, they’ve been particular hard on some and have always been hard on others. 

    this year, we have created a scent to help benefit an organization which we think is on the forefront of helping others - charity: water.  with nearly a billion people in the world struggling for access to clean water, we think the work done by charity: water is more pressing than ever.

   for each bottle of scrooge the pooch purchased, 50% of the selling price will go directly to charity: water.  for every $20 raised, charity: water can supply clean water to an individual for 20 years. 

    we hope that you are as excited about this project as we are.  scrooge smells fabulous and  makes the perfect gift for both guys and gals.  due to nature of this project, we will not be selling samples.  however, we will cover shipping costs for this purchase and will refund shipping charges if scrooge is purchased in addition to other items.  scrooge the pooch is only available at smellbent.com and will be up through january 15th.

happy birthday smell bent!

it just so happens that a year ago today our little website went live.  now it only seems like yesterday, but a lot has happened in the last year.  30+ scents, 1000s of visitors and lots of new friends later, we're amazed our little venture has gone as far as it has in so short a time.  on our 1st anniversary, we just want to say thank you to everybody out there who's helped us along the way.  we couldn't have done it without you!

in celebration of the occasion, we've come up with a special anniversary scent aptly titled "the one", which will be debuting, along with our halloween scents, on september 14.  as paper is a traditional 1st anniversary gift, the one is based on the scent of books.  but that's all i'm saying!  the rest is going to be a surprise - so mark your calendars kiddies!
